Swedish Massage

imageSwedish Massage is the use of long, flowing strokes to promote relaxation while increasing oxygen and blood flow to the muscles. It aids the body in removing toxins, delivering nutrients to the tissues allowing the body to recover from trauma more rapidly.

Deep Tissue Massage

imageDeep Tissue Massage is a manual therapy used to work the deeper layers of muscles. It assists in relaxing, lengthening and releasing holding patterns in the tissues.

Hot Rocks Massage

imageSoothing basalt river stones, heated just to the right temperature make this a relaxing, stress relieving treatment. Hot Rocks are used as tools during the massage and are often placed on the body to help release fatigue from specific areas of muscle tension.

Pregnancy Massage

imageSara has undergone specialized training in Pregnancy Massage. The body goes through tremendous changes during pregnancy. Receiving massage during pregnancy provides a nurturing, supportive environment for both the mother and child. Massage is beneficial in improving muscle pliability and joint flexibility and often helps prepare the muscles for childbirth.

Sports Massage

imageSports Massage allows the athlete to recover more rapidly from injury reducing the likelihood of chronic problems and further injury. Massage decreases muscle soreness enabling the athlete to train more consistently and perform at higher levels.

CranioSacral (SM)

imageCraniosacral work is a peaceful pathway to relaxation. Craniosacral massage was developed by an Osteopath and is performed on a client wearing comfortable clothes in a quiet treatment room. This technique uses gentle, noninvasive pressure and works with the rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid seeking to restore balance in the craniosacral system. This type of massage often provides relief of a variety of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular complaints.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Myofascial Massage

Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
